Christmas brings the cold

The winters of 1894 and 1895 were bitter. This is Jefferson Street, looking west from Walnut Street during that time period. Starke Mayor A.L. VonKirn is in the foreground. At right in the background is the Starke First Baptist Church. The church was on the same site it occupies today, although the current building looks vastly different.
